Archer Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Ridley Technologies, Inc., which does business as Archer ("Archer," "we," "us" or "our"), collects, uses and shares information through our mobile apps, websites, emails, text messages and related services (the "Services").
The short version
- What you put in Archer is for you. We use your information to run your home, not to advertise to you.
- We don't sell your data. We never sell your information, and we never share it, or use it, for targeted advertising.
- We don't train AI on your data. Not our models, and not the AI companies we use.
- Partners see only what you ask us to share. If a lender, real estate agent, insurer or inspector introduced you, we share information with them only when you ask us to.
- Connected accounts are yours to control. You can disconnect an account or delete your data at any time.
- Everyone on a home sees that home's record, including data from connected accounts. Your calendar is the exception: it stays yours.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account and contact information: name, email, phone number, mailing and property address, login details.
- Home information: details about your property, systems, appliances, projects, maintenance, warranties, costs and goals, plus the documents and photos you upload or forward to Archer.
- Financial and insurance information you enter or upload: for example, mortgage statements, insurance declaration pages and tax bills.
- Communications: your conversations with Archer (including in chat), messages you approve Archer to send, and your messages to our support team.
- Household information: the people you invite to a home. If you choose to invite someone from your phone's contacts, we use only the contacts you select, only to send your invitations. We don't upload or store your address book.
Information from accounts you connect (always optional; see Section 4)
- Bank and mortgage accounts (through Plaid): balances, loan details such as rate and payment, and home-related transactions.
- Insurance accounts: policy, coverage, premium and claims details.
- Email accounts (when available): home-related messages only. See "Google user data" in Section 4.
- Calendars (when available; Google Calendar or your phone's calendar): when you're free or busy, and event details if you choose to share them. See "Calendar data" in Section 4.
Information from other sources
- Public records and property data providers: property characteristics, tax assessments and tax history, sales and listing history, permits, estimated values, and local market and weather data.
- Partners who introduce you: for example, your name, contact details and the fact that they referred you.
- People you deal with through Archer: when a contractor, vendor or other third party replies to a message Archer sent for you, we collect their name, contact details and what they sent (such as a quote), and use them only to handle your request.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, approximate location derived from the IP address, crash logs, and how you use the app's features.
- Website data: see Section 6.
2. How we use information
- To provide Archer: to build and update your home record; watch for changes, deadlines and opportunities; answer your questions; prepare documents; and send the messages and take the actions you approve.
- To communicate with you: alerts, reminders, push notifications, emails, texts you've agreed to, and service messages.
- To keep Archer safe and working: security, fraud prevention, debugging and support.
- To improve and develop Archer: analyzing how features are used, and reviewing conversations you rate (see Section 3).
- To comply with law and to protect our rights and the rights of others.
We don't use your information for targeted advertising, and we don't use data from your connected email or calendar for any purpose other than providing your home features.
3. AI and your information
Archer uses AI to understand your home and help you act on it.
- AI providers. We use third-party AI providers, such as Anthropic and OpenAI, to process information when Archer answers you or does work for you. They process it under agreements that prohibit them from training their models on your information.
- We don't train AI on your data. Nothing you put in Archer is used to train any AI model, ours or anyone else's.
- Rating a response. If you tap thumbs-up or thumbs-down, our team may review that conversation to improve Archer's quality.
If we ever offer a way to contribute your data to improving our models, it will be your choice, off unless you turn it on, and we'll tell you before it's available.
4. Connected accounts
Connecting an account is optional. You choose what to connect, and you can disconnect at any time in your settings.
- Disconnecting stops collection. We stop collecting new data from that account. Facts already in your home record that came from it (for example, your loan balance as of a certain date) stay in the record so it doesn't lose its history.
- Deleting removes it. You can ask us to delete the data that came from a connection, including those facts.
- Connected data is shared with your household. Everyone on a home can see data from accounts any member connects (see Section 5). Calendars are the exception (see "Calendar data" below).
- We never sell connected-account data, never share it with partners or others for their marketing, and never use it for advertising.
Bank and mortgage data (Plaid). We use Plaid Inc. to connect financial accounts. You give your login details to Plaid directly; we never see or store them. Plaid's handling of your information is described in its End User Privacy Policy.
Insurance data. If you connect an insurance account, we access policy, coverage, premium and claims details to show them in your home record and help you understand your coverage.
Calendar data. If you connect Google Calendar or allow access to your phone's calendar, Archer sees when you're free or busy. If you choose to share everything, it also sees event details. Archer uses calendar data only to answer scheduling questions, plan home work around your plans, and add the events and invitations you approve, such as an appointment with a contractor. Unlike other connected accounts, your calendar isn't shared with your household: others on your home see only what your own calendar sharing already lets them see. You can change what Archer sees, or disconnect your calendar, at any time in settings.
Google user data. If you connect a Gmail account, Archer accesses your messages in read-only mode only to identify home-related messages, such as mortgage and insurance statements, tax notices, maintenance and service records, warranties and closing documents, and to use them to build your home record, reminders and insights. If you connect Google Calendar, Archer accesses it only as described in "Calendar data" above. Archer's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google user data, including anything derived from it:
- is used only to provide and improve features you can see in Archer;
- is never used for advertising, never sold, and never used to train generalized AI or machine-learning models;
- is not read by any person except with your consent, for security, to comply with law, or after it has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations;
- is transferred to others only as needed to provide these features, to comply with law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with notice to you.
5. How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
- People on your home. Everyone you invite to a home can see that home's whole record, including data from accounts any member connected (except calendars; see Section 4), documents and conversations about the home. Invite only people you trust.
- People you ask Archer to contact. When you approve a message or action, we send the information it contains to the recipient, such as a contractor, insurer, lender or county office.
- Partners who introduced you. If a partner such as your lender, real estate agent, insurer or home inspector introduced you, we share information with them only when you ask us to, and only what you asked us to share. We never give partners your connected-account data, such as bank transactions, email, calendar or insurance policy details.
- Service providers who work for us under contract, such as cloud hosting, data and account-connection providers, AI providers, email, text and push delivery, customer support, analytics and payment processors. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Legal and safety. To comply with law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety and property of Archer, our users and others.
- Business transfers. In a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, with this policy continuing to protect your information.
- With your consent, in any other case.
6. Apps, websites and tracking
- The Archer app has no advertising trackers. We use analytics and crash reporting only to run and improve the app, never to track you across other companies' apps or sites.
- Our marketing website uses cookies, analytics and advertising pixels (Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, Reddit and OpenAI) to understand visits and measure our advertising. This applies to website visits only, not to data in your Archer account. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
7. Text messages and notifications
If you agree to texts, we use your phone number to send the messages you signed up for: reminders, alerts, answers from Archer and verification codes. We don't share mobile information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party, except vendors that deliver the messages for us. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help. You can turn off push notifications in your device settings.
8. Your choices and rights
- Access, correct or delete: in your settings, or by emailing hi@archerhome.com.
- Disconnect an account: in settings. This stops new collection (see Section 4).
- Marketing emails: unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email. Service messages will still be sent.
- Location: Archer uses your property address and approximate location, not your device's precise location.
US state privacy rights. Depending on where you live (for example, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon or another state with a consumer privacy law), you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we hold and get a copy of it in a portable format;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- opt out of its sale, sharing for targeted advertising, or profiling. We don't sell or share it, or use it for profiling;
- limit the use of sensitive personal information.
To make a request, email hi@archerhome.com or use your settings. We'll verify your identity and respond within 45 days, or as the law requires. You can use an authorized agent. If we deny your request, you can appeal by emailing hi@archerhome.com with "Privacy Rights Appeal" in the subject line; if you're still unsatisfied, you can contact your state attorney general. We won't discriminate against you for using these rights.
Categories of information (as defined in state law) collected in the past 12 months:
- identifiers
- customer records, including financial information from accounts you connect
- commercial information, such as property and transaction details
- internet and app activity
- approximate geolocation and property address
- inferences about your home and its needs
The sources and purposes are described in Sections 1 and 2. We disclose these categories only as described in Section 5.
California "Shine the Light." We don't share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing without your consent.
9. How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is open and as long as needed to provide Archer. When you ask us to delete data or your account, we delete it, except information the law requires us to keep (such as billing records). Deleted data may remain in backups for a limited time before it's overwritten.
10. Security
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest. You give your passwords for connected accounts to the account provider or our connection provider directly, and we never see or store them. Where a connection gives us an access token instead (for example, Google), we store it encrypted and use it only to provide the features you turned on. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
11. Children
Archer is for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has given us information, contact hi@archerhome.com and we'll delete it.
12. Where information is processed
We're based in the United States, and we process and store information in the United States. Some service providers may process information in other countries under appropriate safeguards.
13. Changes to this policy
We'll post any updates here and change the effective date. If we make a material change, especially to how we share information or use connected-account data, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and we'll ask for your consent where the law requires it.
